Visiting wounded veterans with Chaplain

Today I spent a few hours with a chaplain, a deputy chaplain Galina (the one on the left) and Nadiya, translated from Ukrainian as hope. The male chaplain was praying with the wounded. Nadiya is a hairdresser/barber and she was volunteering to give free haircuts to the wounded soldiers. What did I do: hold the cover to catch all the falling hair so that they would not fall on the bed. Our customers could not get out of bed. Most had wounded legs-shattered bones connected by an exterior metal apparatus… some could not sit up for too long because of the pain. Some are fresh from the battlefield, like Chasiv Yar. Most look gaunt. I am scared to ask what happened to them. I plan on seeing them again. #haircuts #wounds #redbanknj #redbank #monmouthcounty
