Energy infrastructure in Ukraine

Nathalie Halbout is feeling exhausted.

Almost half of Ukrainians energy infrastructure was destroyed by russki. What does it mean in everyday life? We get electricity cut off in the most unpredictable manner. In theory, Kyiv city is divided into 6 zones. Each zone has a scheduled cut off every day at a different time. The reality is: more often than not, the blackouts happen at the most random times and for longer that 4 expected hours. I don’t even try to cook at home and keep anything in the fridge. Apparently, there are tricks to keep things cold and fresh, but I have not bothered to master them, to be honest. People get used to this chaos. I am scared to take an elevator out of fear to be stuck there during the blackout and wait for hours to be extracted…I never know if I will be able to boil water for morning tea or take a shower at a convenient time… I cannot even imagine how people raise small kids now. It affects businesses: they operate on the generators( like this meat store), who had their generator tied to a tree( you know why). Kyiv is the city of noises that I am still getting used to:

Humming of the generators, wailing sirens and at times distant explosions.

In a way having no control of how my day will go because of lack of electricity reinforces my belief that we have very little control of our lives. #redbank #redbanknj #monmouthcounty #letgo #zen #frenchfixllc #frenchfixllctextile #centraljersey
