Does it look Romantic?

Does it look romantic? Unfortunately it is not. It is Kyiv plunged into darkness. Hundreds of buildings were without power due to the power shortage caused by russki destroying Ukrainian power infrastructure. People turn on their little chargeable lamps or try to work off the power banks. Meanwhile milk goes sour in the fridge, among a few other things that I dared to save from yesterday…Today I saw for the last time two wounded soldiers- Dima and Vasil. They are getting transferred to another facility- in the West of Ukraine. They will be going by a military train. I will not be able to see them off at the train station. They are going to a place, which will provide less intensive treatment. Looks like there are hundreds of other soldiers waiting in the hospitals by the frontline to come here to get more surgeries. Vasil’s wound ( huge bloody bandage from ankle to above the knee)does not smell good and I cannot imagine him going anywhere in such a state. I am scared that he will lose his leg eventually. I bought him some peanut butter-he wants to gain some weight. I squeeze his hand and say: « thank you for protecting us ». He replies »No longer »

I want to cry… but it is NOT something to do in this situation. Apparently the soldiers never say » I wish you luck » when parting ways. They say” see you again”. On my way home I hear an air alert- shahed drones are coming towards Kyiv. Who is going to protect us now? #redbanknj #redbank #wound #fear #farewell  photo courtesy of @zaiarnyi_pasha
