Let’s see if Meta will allow you to see this post. I want you to know the price we pay for defending our country. A few more hours with the wounded in another hospital in Kyiv today. I usually just listen and ask them simple questions about their lives. I tread lightly when asking about how they got wounded. Surprisingly, they share without hesitation and go into details. One soldier even showed me a video of himself being evacuated by the medics( I almost fainted).

These are the wounds of Oleg. He is 30 years old. He has a wife and a 8 month old baby. Their car has touched a mine and he got thrown out in flames on the side of the road and lost consciousness. His military brothers put the fire out. Now he is paralyzed from the waist down due to the spinal cord injury, one leg is shattered in many places, and his burns are severe. I was asked to say a prayer for him. I asked for the right doctors and the right treatment to get the speediest recovery and I promised to keep him in my thoughts. We shook hands and I thanked him for defending Ukraine…. He smiled.
